Food Safety

Food safety and quality is top priority at Grower Direct Nut Company. We understand how critical it is for our customers to feel confident in the product source and the food processing practices.  


At Grower Direct Nut Company all incoming conventional product is fumigated to ensure no infestations of any kind enter our facilities. Product is inspected by the DFA to determine variety, quality, size and color based on established industry standards.


Our Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Program (GMP) have been systematically developed to identify and control hazard risks at each stage of processing. Electronic color and grade sorting, followed by hand sorting, ensures kernels have varietal integrity, are consistent in size and color, virtually free of foreign material and finished to exceed USDA grade or customer specifications.



Our facility holds a BRC Global Standard for Food Safety certification, which can only be achieved by a select few in the industry. To maintain our high food safety and quality standards we have in-house fumigation for conventional walnuts, an in-house laboratory for microbiological testing, and now offer an in-house validated 5-Log Kill-Step treatment via dry saturated steam
